Itchin' like a man on a fuzzy tree

Firstly, I feel I should probably explain the title.

Many years ago in a faraway land (New Mexico) my hilarious father was in a predicament. He insisted these lyrics... "I'm itchin' like a man on a fuzzy tree" were real. They popped into his head from time to time and no matter how hard he tried, he could not convince my mother, my two sisters, and myself that they were, indeed real.

He couldn't remember the tune, knew they came from a Jim Croce song, and never budged when we teased him, telling him he had made them up and that he was crazy. We listened to many a Jim Croce songs, and never did these lyrics... "I'm itchin' like a man on a fuzzy tree" appear.

Here's the goofball in the flesh.
Well one day, we were at the cabin watching Honeymoon in Vegas (a wonderful movie). Nicholas Cage had just learned his bride-to-be was about to leave for Hawaii with the evil James Caan and was rushing to stop her. As the scene changed, Nicholas dashed down the hotel hallway and we all heard loud and clear... "Well a bless a my soul what's wrong with me? I'm itchin' like a man on a fuzzy tree"!!!!
My dad wasn't crazy after all! It existed!! After all the years of teasing and disbelief, he finally proved his point with a giant 'I told you so.'
All be it, it was not Jim Croce, but Elvis Presley... regardless though, he was right. And he still likes to bring it up from time to time.
The end.

The reason this story popped into my head was due to this man. Kraig Parker: Elvis Impersonator Extraordinaire.
I've always been an Elvis fan, and Kyle has always been a Beatles fan. We went to a Beatles tribute show a few years back ("Rain") so he thought it would be nice to take me to an Elvis tribute show!
And it was.
The guy was amazing. He looked just like him (from afar anyway), sounded just like him, and had awesome stage presence.
Other than the sound crew stinking, a 45 year old backup singer shaking her booty all over the stage, and him kissing (no exaggeration) about 30 grandmas on the lips throughout the show, it was really great!
I'm sad I missed out on the Elvis (and Beatles) eras, but I'm glad people still appreciate their music today.
Now if only our new musicians could follow suit....

Over and out.

Skydiving and Sari Fabric

Part 1: Skydiving

This could have been us this weekend.

But alas, this is what our fun-filled-adrenaline-fueled Saturday morning turned into...
...our group of 5 sitting in an un-airconditioned building, completely done with training, being told the plane was broken and we have to reschedule. Crappy.
Oh well, we enjoyed a lovely 7:00 drive to Midland, watched a very 80's skydiving training video, and made a few interesting friends. Happy birthday Kyle. Sorry your present sucked (Office reference). Until next time Eagles Nest.

Part 2: Sari Fabric
This lovely Suddenlink box/DVD/home video/wi-fi holder was the bane of my existence:

... so I decided to line it with sari fabric!

Step 1: Cut fabric

Step 2: Sew edges... unless you're using silk and have minimal sewing experience... then you hot glue!

Step 3: Try (with no avail) to glue fabric down to wood

Step 4: Forget the glue, and fill shelves with new, prettier items

Voila!

Have a great day everyone!!

It's been awhile...

After contemplating an entire year, I have finally come up with the perfect blog entry! Actually, I'm just enjoying my summer vacation, and instead of doing the things I need to be doing (unpacking our house, changing out of my pajamas) I decided to write a new entry! Woohoo.

Well, not much going on here.
The end.

P.S. This is our new baby Denver! He's getting fixed Monday :( Feel bad for him, don't feel bad he's going to stop trying to pee on everything. Over and out.

So much to do, so little time

Well, I haven't written anything for awhile, but that doesn't mean things haven't been happening!
Let's see, where to start...

The ladies at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ put on a wonderful shower for us! There was an AWESOME turnout and we had a lot of fun! It was amazing seeing how generous everyone was and the presents hardly fit in my apartment.. not that I'm complaining ;) My mom and sister Brittany got to come, so that was neat too.

We had a little setback with the invitations, but I think Kyle got it all taken care of. Those should be done and printed by next week at the latest.

Registered for tuxes, working on the music, and getting lots of little stuff taken care of!
That's all for now :)

Kyle's First Blog

Hello internet world.

If you've been following our blog, you might have noticed that it seems to be mostly Brenna writing everything on here and that I have seemingly remained strangely absent from the whole wedding planning process. That time is no more.

I actually have been doing a little to help, not as much as Brenna of course, but I have had a few jobs. I was put in charge of the music, and I'm proud to say that we've just about got that finalized. I had her help of course. Also, one thing I worked on a lot lately were our invitations. We decided it would be cheaper if I designed them instead of having someone else do it. So, Brenna found some that she liked and I basically tried to duplicate them. They turned out not too shabby if I do say so myself. It took me a while though.

Another thing I'm in charge of is the honeymoon, which by the way is completely planned and paid for, with help from my parents that is. Quite a bit actually. Everything about the honeymoon is going to be a surprise for Brenna. Cute, I know. She often thinks she's really clever about thinking of ways to get me to tell her what we're doing, but so far, she hasn't outsmarted me. So for now, all I can say about our honeymoon is that we're leaving on June _____ and traveling to ______. From there we'll _______ the _______ ___ _______. But, the ______ with all the _______ will definitely be ________. I can't believe the ________ will turn ______  while ______ with running_______ __! Then we'll ______ back to ______ just in time to _________ for the _____ ___. Pretty fun, huh?

K that's all. Brenna probably won't let me post anything else on here, so I hope you like this one.

Bye.

Photography...

We booked a really awesome photographer for the wedding! I really like her stuff I have seen, and her dad works with my parents so I know she is honest. But there is one little thing that I'm not too excited about...
She requires Kyle and me to have a photoshoot the day before the wedding; dress, tux, hair, makeup, the whole bit.
It's not so much that we don't want to see eachother all dressed up before the wedding (we don't really, but we could deal with it). It's mostly just the fact that we have to get all dressed up and completely ready TWO different times. And just one day apart at that.
Uhhhghg.. don't know what to do. We would really like the pictures and I know we wouldn't regret having done it... but it's just something that's going to be a big pain. And it's something she requires.

Thoughts anyone??

Also, here's a picture of my beautiful ring :-)

Spring Break Madness

Since I'm home in Farmington for the week (and it's the last time I'll be back before Graduation) I have lots to do! My purse was stolen a few weeks ago in Houston... so sadly I've been having to juggle getting those things taken care of, and have spent a little less time on wedding things than I wanted.

Some things I've gotten done so far:
-Found and bought all the bridesmaid shoes
-Made an appointment with Diane Thursday morning for cake stuff
-Found a few odds and ends for our homemade wedding invites
-Bought 6 or 7 large glass containers for the candy bar! (we still need a few more if anyone would like to make a donation/loan)

Things I need to do before I leave:
-Finalize the flower/pew end/ centerpiece colors
-Meet with Diane
-Register for china/bedding/other boring/nice things at Dillards with my Mom's help
-Finalize numbers and addresses for my side of the guest list

So excited for the wedding... so ready for all this to be taken care of.   :-)
